Do you recyle, reuse, reduce, compost.............?

My conscience won't let me get away from the responsibility of
trying to do my part. Knowing that my 5 children's children will suffer
from the neglect of a disposable world promps me.
I keep a folgers container under my sink for vegtable and fruit scraps.
We eat alot of fresh produce and the waste turns into fertile soil. Tip, citrus fruits, oranges, lemons, grapefruits are high in acid, so they are not good for the compost unless you want to do soil test and add lime to nutralize. Meat and meat byproducts are not recommended for compost due to the smell and attraction of rodents.
This year has prompted me even more so, because a bumper sticker reminded me of where we are headed in the future. "What happens when the oil runs out?" We all know the oil will eventually run out, it will happen.
Are you aware of: (Do you care?)

This is a list of some of the products made from oil. Nearly everything in our lives is made from oil, made by machinery and systems dependent on oil, and transported by oil as either gas or diesel fuel.
Air conditioners, ammonia, anti-histamines, antiseptics, artificial turf, asphalt, aspirin, balloons, bandages, boats, bottles, bras, bubble gum, butane, cameras, candles, car batteries, car bodies, carpet, cassette tapes, caulking, CDs, chewing gum, cold, combs/brushes, computers, contacts, cortisone, crayons, cream, denture adhesives, deodorant, detergents, dice, dishwashing liquid, dresses, dryers, electric blankets, electrician’s tape, fertilisers, fishing lures, fishing nets, fishing rods, floor wax, footballs, glues, glycerin, golf balls, guitar strings, hair, hair colouring, hair curlers, hearing aids, heart valves, heating oil, house paint, ice chests, ink, insect repellent, insulation, jet fuel, life jackets, linoleum, lip balm, lipstick, loudspeakers, medicines, mops, motor oil, motorcycle helmets, movie film, nail polish, nylons, oil filters, paddles, paint brushes, paints, parachutes, paraffin, pens, perfumes, petroleum jelly, plastic chairs, plastic cups, plastic forks, plastic wrap, plastics, plywood adhesives, refrigerators, roller-skate wheels, roofing paper, rubber bands, rubber boots, rubber cement, rubbish bags, running shoes, saccharine, seals, shirts (non-cotton), shoe polish, shoes, shower curtains, solvents, solvents, spectacles, stereos, sweaters, table tennis balls, tape recorders, telephones, tennis rackets, thermos, tights, toilet seats, toners, toothpaste, transparencies, transparent tape, TV cabinets, typewriter/computer ribbons, tyres, umbrellas, upholstery, vaporisers, vitamin capsules, volleyballs, water pipes, water skis, wax, wax paper

1. Paper Cups - Paper cups are coated with plastic or wax in order to make them waterproof. We know plastic is derived from oil or natural gas, but did you know most wax is too? The type of wax used to waterproof paper cups is polyolefin wax — which is a polymer derived from oil or natural gas.2. Candles - Speaking of wax, did you know that candles are also made from polyolefin wax? A natural alternative to burning polyolefin wax candles are beeswax candles.3. Fruits & Vegetables - That wax coating on your store bought fruits and vegetables is (you guessed it) also made from petroleum. Another good reason to shop at the local farmer’s market!4. Reusable Shopping Bags - Many reusable shopping bags on the market today are ironically made from the same oil derived materials they are designed to replace. Reusable shopping bags are typically made from non-woven polypropylene — PP or resin ID code 5 for short. While these bags are recyclable, I would recommend purchasing a heavy duty canvas reusable bag instead. Canvas reusable bags are made from cotton, and last longer.

to simplify it;
* Rubber
* Plastic
* Paint
* Synthetic cloth, such as nylon
* Bitumen (asphalt or tar) for road surfaces and building
* Lubricating oil for engines and other machines
* Drugs and creams (e.g. Vaseline)

Recyclables Heading to Landfills as their Value Decreases

Everything that goes to landfill here ends up generating methane which is sold to companies as energy. However that is not true of all cities. Indianapolis (my other hometown) burns trash and turns it into energy. We have recyle tubs and a large trash container that are automated.

MAYBE WE SHOULD STOP

TALKING ABOUT

WHAT WE ARE NOT DOING

and take the whisper OUT of what weare doing

maybe .................... what we are doing will catch on

after all what we are not doing got us here ................

GLOBAL WHAT?

That time of year; tissue boxes serve a great purpose of reuse before discarded.

Collecting dryer lint
Collecting plastic grocery bags
Collecting feminine used products

Do you make your bed everyday?

There may be 10 days out of an entire year that I don't make my bed.
Just feels right to start the day and end the day with a clean bedroom!

Ice Storm here in Ft Wayne Indiana

Friday Dec 19th 2008.

I can hear sirens in a distance, and I can see the limbs of trees bent to the ground. Swaying in the wind, upon opening the door I can hear crakling of the ice, see the drips of mosture droplets that are still coming down, and a dreary darken sky. There is snow on the groud that offers a bit of illumination but still it looks close to nightfall.

Sunset here in green clean Ft Wayne Indiana

this sunset is a view looking outward from my back yard

सुम्मेर टाइम fun

John & I invested in a Brand new honda 750 cruser In May of 2007. It was our anniversery gift to our selves! He let me pick out the cycle I liked best!

Since we have personalized it to fit our needs.

We take the bike to Indianapolis to visit family during the summer months.

That is a 2 hour drive from Ft Wayne Indiana। While in Ft Wayne & surrounding areas we often get out for coffee. We also have been known to do our grocery shopping with the bike!

Everything on a bike is up close and personal. Being a rider I get to see things that in an auto would not be possible. Like all the change lost on the roads.

Adopted puppy

On October 2nd 08, John and I settled on a 6 month old mutt. Breed Basenji / Shetland Sheepdog. We adopted him from Ft Wayne Animal Care and Control. We named him Kindu after the location in africa where the basenji breed comes from. He is a bit nurotic, and had not been exposed to people, cars, let alone a simple walk when we had taken him on. He has been a real joy as well as a real job. He chews everything, he barks at the wind, ................... gee, Iguess my
biggest complaint is that he is shedding like crazy right now. They explained it was to be expected until he gets adjusted. It was explained that it would go away in 30 days. NOT.

Kindu is a high energy dog, whom has a love me, love me mentality. He provokes play and attention. Originaly I wanted a toy german sheperd, and hubby wanted a shelty. We combed the dog pound week in week out, no such luck. Kindu, was this beautiful coated, quiet med sized dog whom captured us. He originally had a hold on him, yet we thought hey, why not try, and put a 2nd hold on him. The original hold got cold feet and we were able to bring him home 48 hours later.
He is leggy, and jumps and bounces around like a kangaroo, in fact I wanted to call him Kanga!
He grooms himself like a cat and has mannerisms like a cat as well, batting at balls and such.
He is independant and strong willed. I wanted a frisbee dog but he is a chaser not a retriever.
He uses his feet much like hands, saying "I want some attention" I taught him how to jump up
to the door knob and open bedroom and bathroom doors! When they are locked he uses his paws to knock. He would rather be with people than a person. When he is with John and I he demands being in the center of us. He gets a bit jealous of the attention we give each other.
