Baby's day out with mamaw and uncle Casey,

we went to the mall strolled around for a bit, went to the food court sat down for lunch,

took a ride! This was Kaydn's first ride! you could see fasination, fear, wonderment, all wrapped into one as he moved around on the carosel. After which we strolled a little more then headed to the YMCA in our neighborhood to get into the pool. Kaydn was a bit chilled and weary of the water works going on about him. It was a new learning experience for him that day. We then went home thinking baby might need a nap, not. lol he was ready to play

Life has been strange and distorted for me, a lot going on all of the time.

Casey had his apendix removed April 21st, Nate had a roid removed on my birthday, may 22.

We are looking at houses, knowing we have to move.

Lets Be Winter Crafty

holiday decorating should offer a longer season, snowflakes and snowmen do the trick after all they can hang around till February. Keeping things a bit more cheery!

What you need to make the snowman ornaments!

Burned out light bulb
White paper
Decoupage glue
Brush
Water to rinse brush
Glitter and or snow material
Trays (or paper plates) and small mouthed glass
Orange pipe cleaner
Chop stick or pencil
Scissors
String
Tape
Felt white & black
Toilet paper tube (used)
Squiggly eyes
Glitter glue pen
Glue gun

1) Tear white paper into small pieces, 2) set up water to rinse brush (rinse accordingly)
3) Wipe bulb off, 4) dip brush into glue, 5) start painting the bulb with glue.

TIP: don’t paint the glue where you need to keep your fingers. I use a small mouthed glass to set the bulb on and do one side at a time.

6) Add pieces of paper a little at a time gluing them down as you go.
7) allow the glued paper side to dry. After it has dried;
8) repeat step 4–7. Once both sides have been covered with paper & have dried;
9) Check to make sure no spots were missed reapply glue and paper where needed and allow to dry.10) Use brush to cover half the bulb with glue 11) place over a tray or paper plate and sprinkle glitter on thick 12) sprinkle extra glitter onto the tray 13) then over another tray sprinkle the glitter from the other tray over the bulb again 14) allow to dry 15) repeat steps 10-14 until bulb is fully covered with glitter and dry.
16) cut string long enough 17)Use tape to tape down string on two sides of the bulb screw in top. 18) secure with glue gun, waiting till glue is set 19) glue squiggly eyes in place, allow to set. 20) wrap orange pipe cleaner around a chop stick or pencil to desired length for nose, cut tuck in the ends 21) use glue gun to secure nose in place

TIP; it is easier to work with the bulb when setting on top of a glass or hanging from a banana tree.
TIP; if you get hot glue on your fingers place them in the rinse water
22) cut used toilet paper roll to desired height of hat 23) cut black felt to fit around the tube
24) cut a circle from black felt to fit the top and punch a hole through the center for the hanging string
25) Cut a larger circle from black felt for the bottom of the hat 26) cut a white band for the hat from the white felt 27) use glue gun to assembly all parts of hat 28) thread the string through the top of the hat, glue to bulb if desired 29) use glue pen to make dots for the mouth, allow to dry watching for drips

This is my most recent purchase, I've had an itch to start another quilt. When I went to pick up batting for the quilt tops I have left to finish I couldn't resist. It may seem strange but to some of us fabric is worth more than gold. I'm so excited that I had to share. I stocked up on a lot of earth tones earlier in the year, all those bright colors in the baby quilts left me craving the blander calmer side of nature. I can't wait to see what inspiration comes out of the entire collection.

It's time for a long overdue trip to celebrate family! first thing in the morning I popped out of bed, then took Casey to school.

I then Gathered and packed things to go with us. We headed out of Fort Wayne to New Castle at around 9 am. We visited Michael then headed to Indianapolis to visit my friend Steven.

After that we headed to Brownsburg to visit my brother and my parents, at just after 9pm we headed back to Indianapolis to visit with John's daughter Liz. On our way to New Castle I noticed a building in a town called machanicsville and had to stop and get some pictures! We pulled into our driveway around 12:30ish, it was a very good day, I really enjoyed visiting family and friends.

Last thursday I left ft wayne Indiana and headed to dayton Ohio to pick up 2 of my kids. Amber was invited to a baby shower that I was co hosting the coming saturday and Kurt is currently laid off so it was perfect for me to get a good visit in. John's son Andrew was also here so we had a full house! Even more perfect John is also on a two week lay off, so we didn't have to worry about keeping a schedule.
I was responsible for organizing all the games, picking up gifts, punch, and egg rolls. That's not a big deal unless you wait till the last minute and have no experience at such a party. Even worse I had to be me and make fancy pictures, with matting and a transparent over lay with words, a large copy of the ultra sound as well as pictures of Lindsay & Nate when they were babies, all of which were stuffed into sheet covers for each and every guest. Along with that was a large envelope with game sheets. That in it's self is no big deal however ..... it was a planned party for 27 people, 30 showed up.
I decided that egg hunting would be one of the games. Each person gets 2 and only one egg was a winner. All the eggs had candy in them.
I had ask my daughter in law to come over and help me put together the poppy diaper game, where you pass a diaper to every one and the person who gets the one with mustard wins the door prize. She stood me up so I decided to get a gag gift in instead. While flipping through my digital album I came across a few pictures of her and Nate where she had milk leaking through her shirt. I printed a full sheet of 8"x11" and decided to have a booby prize game where you have to list as many things that leak in 2 minutes. I explained to all the guest as the large photo was passed around how the game came about. The gag of it all was the winner got a wrapped box that when opened revealed another photo of her leaking, which was on top of another wrapped box, which had another picture of her leaking, inside the last box was ultra heavy flow pads. Those things leak too! I was nice because I could have had a condom instead.
This party was far too large for the bingo that was planned, thank goodess because it started at 2 pm and ended at 5 pm. Lets face it 30 people equal a lot of gift opening.
Had it not been for my daughter helping me get all the games in order, pictures matted, eggs filled, and everything that had to be done to pull of the baby shower I'd been in trouble. I only knew Lindsay, my daughter Amber and it was the 3rd time I had been with Lindsay's mother. Everyone else was a stranger to me even the house.
It was a lot of work, exspensive, and time consuming. The end result, a nursery full of well needed items.
When it was all said and done I was able to go back home and spend quality time with my kids.

What a wonderful thought, what a wonderful discovery!
Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Compost ......................................
now I learn of a new word precycle, a new term, seems to me like it should have come first. How could we skip the most important part?
Have you ever purchased something just for it's packaging?
example; the color of it? the shape of it? It's ability to be reused? I buy wine bottles for their unique color and or shapes, I also purchase items that I can reuse over & over again.

1) those nylon like netted bags that they package; lemons, apples, onions, avocados, and so much more of in. *They sell that material preformed as scrungies for the bath, scouring pads for tough kitchen clean up, and you can also use them to bundle your own gift baskets! (I personally hate bread ties made of wire. Plastic clips I hang onto for reuse with the netted nylon like bags!

Forgive me because I get so excited over reinventing ways to save money and mother earth. How can you go wrong accomplishing both task with an item that usually goes to a landfill or maybe worse burned with coal for energy.

2) Glass jars and bottles, if your not collecting them why not store them for; *milk, juice, tea, ? *the larger ones are great to give dry ingredients for cookies, breads, ..... with recipe of the wet ingredients to finish it up. When layered just right they are pretty. Labels are fairly easy to remove and I've found them to be impressive.

3) Styrofoam (meat & veggie) containers. I place mine in the dishwasher to clean & sterilize them. *They make great insulators for my husband's lunch pail when I need to seperate hot from cold. Easy to cut down to fit any lunch pail, bag, or box, and can be used many times before disposal! *Crafters who use glitter, confetti, and other multiple small items find them very handy to collect the excess which would normally be waste. Not to mention great for easter egg coloring time, great to mix paints on, great to use as a disposable plate.

4.) shopping bags from grocerie stores, reuse then recycle when possible. Dead weight conversation here, I hate them, I hate them, I hate them. There was a time when I collected them much like currancy from shopping, if only they had as much value as an alluminum can! Funny thing, they do, just not to us the consumer. Now days I use my own as much as possible. Here I go getting wordy again. However you catch yourself off guard shopping without your green bags. *I keep a stash for packing, (blow air in them, or just wrap with them), use for texturized paint techniques (just crinkle tie off or rubber band and dip lightly into paint), the rest I take to my local grocery store for recycling along with bread bags and other plastic bags curb side won't pick up. If you take the time to start to collect, you might be amazed at how fast they stack up, I was.

So Many issues/concerns .. where to start?

I have a lot on my plate this year as I become more interested in getting back into the proactive lifestyle.
A big one for me outside of global warming is prisoners rights. There is a better way. I recently became aware of a full fledged prison riot here in New Castle Indiana. It is located about 2 1/2 hours away from Ft Wayne just outside Indianapolis.
It is run for profit by a privatized group called the Geo Group. The riot broke out due to prisoners being sent from AZ here and the prison not allowing the prisoners rights.
They shouldn't have to rise up to get the basics.
As I see it, there is no reason why prisoners can't work and provide while doing time.
They should be aloud college without any fees. Lets face it, ignorance is bliss until you walk through the gates into the real world and try to get a job with a prison background.
Prison dorms should be outlawed. As many prisoners as we have it would seem that we could build one big prison comunity that could be mostly self supporting. Sew their own clothing, grown their own food, farm their own meat, bake their own breads, It's endless. Domesticate them instead of instatutionalize them.

Holiday Vacation is over, Back to norm now!

Morning starts early Monday - Friday. Hubby stayed up late watching movies on the movie channels, I myself went to bed watching the planet earth specials on the discovery channel and was drawn in. We are way off schedule.
I usually prepare the coffee maker, his lunch milk, his break time cereal, his lunch tea, and a banana the night before. I also put together stuff such as cottage cheese, carrot & celery sticks things of that nature.

In the morning I get up at 4:30 start the coffee maker, get the ice packs in his lunch pail, start packing it while getting breakfast started. Every work morning I serve him fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, now and then it is orange juice. Since he went to bed so late I knew he would rather sleep than eat a hardy breakfast so I prepared a bagel from Panera bread with cream cheese, grapefruit juice & coffee. He totes 2 small coffee thermos to work with him as well. On a routine work morning I serve him in bed at 5 am. A breakfast tray of fresh fruit of some sort. This week we have kiwi, oranges, mango, & apples. But sometimes he gets peaches, grapes, berries of all sorts, melon, I buy seasonal items as much as possible. Along with that depending on how much time I have;

poached eggs, scrambled, omelet, french toast, or over easy
ham, sausage, or bacon
toast, bagel, biscuit, pancakes, oatmeal, waffles or hash browns
milk, cheese sticks, yogurt or cottage cheese

Keep in mind I balance his breakfast, on the other hand My son needs breakfast too. I have been accused of cooking him too much and trying to fatten him up. He could be right but I like to offer him choices and I know he works very hard all day laboring. He turned 49 on the 9th of Dec. so he his no spring chick & I have a need to keep him as healthy as possible. He works for GM and is responsible for 14 people, don't get me wrong he works the line as well.

I do this because I love him and want him to feel worthy, needed, wanted, special, I like to king him. I constantly ask him if there is something I can get or do for him. The other times I say "how can I help you this morn, or today"

I also start his shower, get him a towel, set out his underwear & socks. Get his cell phone, glasses, work keys, and truck keys together. At times he lets me pick out his wardrobe, a lot of the time I drive him to work and at this time of year if we are parked in the drive I warm the truck.

anyway that is that start of my weekdays and he is worth it.

My conscience won't let me get away from the responsibility of
trying to do my part. Knowing that my 5 children's children will suffer
from the neglect of a disposable world promps me.
I keep a folgers container under my sink for vegtable and fruit scraps.
We eat alot of fresh produce and the waste turns into fertile soil. Tip, citrus fruits, oranges, lemons, grapefruits are high in acid, so they are not good for the compost unless you want to do soil test and add lime to nutralize. Meat and meat byproducts are not recommended for compost due to the smell and attraction of rodents.
This year has prompted me even more so, because a bumper sticker reminded me of where we are headed in the future. "What happens when the oil runs out?" We all know the oil will eventually run out, it will happen.

I can hear sirens in a distance, and I can see the limbs of trees bent to the ground. Swaying in the wind, upon opening the door I can hear crakling of the ice, see the drips of mosture droplets that are still coming down, and a dreary darken sky. There is snow on the groud that offers a bit of illumination but still it looks close to nightfall.

John & I invested in a Brand new honda 750 cruser In May of 2007. It was our anniversery gift to our selves! He let me pick out the cycle I liked best!

Since we have personalized it to fit our needs.

We take the bike to Indianapolis to visit family during the summer months.

That is a 2 hour drive from Ft Wayne Indiana। While in Ft Wayne & surrounding areas we often get out for coffee. We also have been known to do our grocery shopping with the bike!

Everything on a bike is up close and personal. Being a rider I get to see things that in an auto would not be possible. Like all the change lost on the roads.

On October 2nd 08, John and I settled on a 6 month old mutt. Breed Basenji / Shetland Sheepdog. We adopted him from Ft Wayne Animal Care and Control. We named him Kindu after the location in africa where the basenji breed comes from. He is a bit nurotic, and had not been exposed to people, cars, let alone a simple walk when we had taken him on. He has been a real joy as well as a real job. He chews everything, he barks at the wind, ................... gee, Iguess my

biggest complaint is that he is shedding like crazy right now. They explained it was to be expected until he gets adjusted. It was explained that it would go away in 30 days. NOT.

Kindu is a high energy dog, whom has a love me, love me mentality. He provokes play and attention. Originaly I wanted a toy german sheperd, and hubby wanted a shelty. We combed the dog pound week in week out, no such luck. Kindu, was this beautiful coated, quiet med sized dog whom captured us. He originally had a hold on him, yet we thought hey, why not try, and put a 2nd hold on him. The original hold got cold feet and we were able to bring him home 48 hours later.

He is leggy, and jumps and bounces around like a kangaroo, in fact I wanted to call him Kanga!

He grooms himself like a cat and has mannerisms like a cat as well, batting at balls and such.

He is independant and strong willed. I wanted a frisbee dog but he is a chaser not a retriever.

He uses his feet much like hands, saying "I want some attention" I taught him how to jump up

to the door knob and open bedroom and bathroom doors! When they are locked he uses his paws to knock. He would rather be with people than a person. When he is with John and I he demands being in the center of us. He gets a bit jealous of the attention we give each other.

Dec 17 - 08 Lindsay anounced that Nate (my 3rd born son) and her were having a boy! She also said that the baby has Nate's chin.

I have a long to do list awaiting me, just finished laundry, kitchen, and uploading youtube videos.

Of course they still aren't all there.

I have quilting to do,

finishing puzzle wreaths, & reindeers,

finishing pom pom ornaments,

making the infant hooded towels,

plan a baby shower,

haven't done any christmas shopping YET,

I tend to be on the artistic side of life.

Dear You,

I sit here in the wee early moring hours with a wine glass before me.
my new sewing machine sets on the table, supplies all around me,
went to walmart last night, have to grand children on the way!
purchaced a hand towel, with a large bath towel,
so I could make a hooded baby towel
I also purchaced a load of odd and ends of ribbon and lacings.

Brain fog, hot flashes, hair soaking wet ......................
changes and transgression into menopause ...... middle age, or is it getting older .... age?

This is my first post here and I am in a creative mode this season. I want to share my home made christmas with you! So stay posted because I have the goodies with goodies!
